The dollar fell against the euro after the U.S. lost more jobs than forecast in August and the unemployment rate climbed to a five-year high. Gold for immediate delivery gained as much as $17.64, or 2.2 percent, to $814.09 an ounce, the biggest advance since Aug. 21. It traded at $810.54 an ounce as of 2:04 p.m. in London. “We are looking at $830 to $835 an ounce in the next week,” Tariq Mahmood, a Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based technical analyst at online trader Global Tradewaves Ltd., said by phone today. “The dollar is in the overbought region.” Among other metals for immediate delivery, silver gained 8.5 cents, or 0.7 percent, to $12.90 an ounce. Platinum fell $15.50, or 1.1 percent, to $1,384.50 and palladium dropped $7, or 2.5 percent, to $277.25 an ounce.
